The Roadtrip+Rhythms Story – RMD x Garahe Streetfoods

Startups.
We’re scrappy. We’re passionate. We’re driven by dreams and caffeine. And when we come together, magic happens.
That’s exactly what went down at our latest Roadtrip+Rhythms show at Garahe Streetfoods—a night filled with music, food, community, and the kind of energy you can’t fake. But this blog isn’t just about the gig. It’s about something bigger: how startups like RMD and Garahe can lift each other up—and why collaboration beats competition every time.
Let’s talk about how a band and a sisig joint came together to create something unforgettable.
When Passion Meets Passion

We’re RMD. A startup band made up of lifelong friends who believe that music is more than just notes—it’s a force that builds community. We’ve played across stages, sidewalks, and stream screens, but we’ve always stayed true to our roots: authenticity, connection, and heart.
Enter Garahe Streetfoods, the dreamchild of four awesome humans: Christian, Tin, and Dennis, Hazel. These four took their love for food and community and turned it into something special. Garahe isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a vibe. It’s where garlic rice meets good vibes. Where kwek kwek shares space with crispy guitar solos.
From the first time we met Christian, Tin, Hazel and Dennis, it was obvious—we were speaking the same language (and we’re not just talking about Tagalog and English here). We shared a love for creating experiences, for bringing people together, and for building something real from the ground up.
The Roadtrip Begins

So we said, “Let’s do something different. Let’s combine food and music, sisig and basslines, fishballs and anthems.”
Boom. Roadtrip+Rhythms was born.
This wasn’t just an event—it was a co-created experience. We didn’t rent a venue. We collaborated with one. We didn’t just play a set. We shared a space with people who believed in what we were doing.
Every detail was a team effort—from figuring out where the stage would go to making sure the drinks were cold and the mic cables weren’t tangled with extension cords. And when showtime came? The place was packed. The energy was electric. We had an incredible night, and the crowd felt it too.
But the real story is what happened behind the scenes.
Meet the Dream Team: Christian, Tin, Hazel and Dennis

Let’s give it up for the real MVPs of Garahe Streetfoods.
- Christian is the go-getter. The “let’s make it happen” guy who sees opportunity even when things feel uncertain. He’s the type who says yes before he figures out the how—and somehow always pulls it off. He believed in this event from the get-go and helped us dream big.
-
Tin and Hazel brings the soul. They've got the warmth, the care, the details. They made sure every guest felt welcome, every plate looked perfect, and every step of the night had that Garahe magic. When they say, “This matters,” you know it matters.
- Dennis is the steady hand, the quiet strategist. He brings that calm energy to the chaos and reminds everyone why they started this in the first place.
Together, these four created more than just a streetfood spot. They built a community corner where startups like ours could grow—not just in sales or followers, but in confidence and collaboration.
Why Startups Should Lift Each Other Up

Now, let’s break it down.
Startups often hustle in isolation. We worry about competition, about staying relevant, about standing out. But what if we flipped the script? What if standing out meant standing together?
That’s what Roadtrip+Rhythms taught us.
Here’s what happens when startups join forces:
-
We Expand Our Reach
Our fans got to discover Garahe. Garahe’s regulars got to discover RMD. No algorithm required—just good old-fashioned cross-promotion. -
We Share Resources
We brought the sound. They brought the space. We combined efforts instead of duplicating them—and the result was better than anything we could’ve pulled off alone. -
We Learn From Each Other
Garahe taught us about flow, service, and creating physical experiences. We taught them a bit about live sound, online hype, and event rhythm. We both walked away smarter and stronger. -
We Strengthen Community
People didn’t just come for food or for music. They came for the feeling. That sense of “We’re all in this together.” That’s what builds loyalty—and love. -
We Keep the Fire Burning
Being a startup is tough. There are highs and lows, wins and worries. But when we see other startups thriving, especially ones we’ve partnered with, it gives us fuel to keep going.
Collab Over Competition: A Mindset Shift
This isn’t about throwing shade at competition. We get it—sometimes you’ve gotta fight for attention, for gigs, for sales.
But the real power comes from knowing your lane—and seeing others not as threats, but as potential partners.
At RMD, we believe in what we call the “Lovester Economy”. It’s not about the biggest stage or the most streams. It’s about love—for the craft, the people, the journey. When we act from love, collaboration becomes the obvious choice.
Garahe Streetfoods gets that. That’s why they didn’t just give us a slot—they gave us a stage.

Behind the Beat (and Behind the Grill)
Let’s be real: behind every great night are some chaotic, hilarious, and heartwarming moments. Here’s a peek behind the curtain:
- Soundcheck turned into “where’s the nearest extension cord?”
-
The band almost fought over the last inihaw na liempo.
- We tuned guitars in the parking lot.
- Christian helped set up the stage. Tin helped and made sure customers are comfortable. Dennis figured out how to get customers excellent parking.
And through it all? Laughter. Hustle. Support.
We weren’t just a band and a business. We were a team. A crew. A bunch of dreamers making it work—one song, one plate, one customer at a time.
What’s Next?
This isn’t a one-time thing.
RMD and Garahe Streetfoods are already scheming for the next Roadtrip+Rhythms (or maybe a “Grill & Groove” pop-up series? 😍). The point is, we’re not done. We’re building something together.
And we want YOU—yes, you reading this—to think about how you can collaborate too.
- Are you a small business looking to bring something new to your space? Hit us up.
- Are you a local artist wanting to team up for something cool? Let’s chat.
- Are you a fan who wants to support startups that lift each other up? Come to a show. Eat at the spots. Spread the word.
Because when we support each other, we don’t just survive. We rise.

Final Thoughts: Dreams Taste Better Together
To our fellow startups out there—don’t wait for the “big break.” Don’t grind alone in the corner hoping someone will notice. Look around. There are other dreamers just like you, building something awesome.
Find them. Cheer for them. Collaborate with them.
Because honestly? Dreams taste better with silog and good company.
Thank you, Garahe Streetfoods.
Thank you, Christian, Tin, Hazel and Dennis.
Thank you to everyone who came out to Roadtrip+Rhythms and made it more than just a gig.
This is what happens when you believe in each other.
This is what happens when you say yes.
This is what happens when you build together.
And we’re just getting started.
